Having just opened on Saturday, May 13, 2017, to kick off its 17th season, guests at the Dollywood Splash Country in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, are excited to experience the crazy turns, twists, and thrills of the newest water attraction, a two million dollar TailSpin Racer!

The TailSpin Racer is a six-lane racing slide that is five stories tall. It is spiraling and high speed, longer than a football field, has daring and hair-raising drops and tight turns on racing mats, and ends in a splashdown finish in a large swimming pool! It matches six riders in a thrilling race competition to see who can get to the finish first as they are able to all race at the same time.

Dollywood’s Splash Country, a popular water park in the Smoky Mountains, already had a lineup of 34 water-based rides including Raging River Rapids, Fire Tower Falls, Big Bear Plunge, and others. Another innovative ride is RiverRush, the only water coaster in Tennessee.

Also appealing are award-winning extremely vigilant lifeguards who recently earned the Platinum International Safety Award given by Ellis & Associates, a firm that specializes in international aquatic safety and risk management. This team of water park guards are the only ones in Tennessee to receive this special and prestigious recognition. Only 10 percent of 355 qualified E&A clients earned this Platinum Award.

TailSpin Racer is sure to be a great new addition, and you will be able to immediately see it near the front of the water park.

Other upgrades in the park will include Preferred Parking, new equipment to streamline food purchases, and even misters on walkways to cool guests’ feet! Also appreciated will be a new calming section for guests to take a break in a private area.

Splash Country opened its daily operation on Saturday, May 20, and will continue through Sunday, August 13. Then the park will open August 15 and 17 and on weekends through Labor Day, the first weekend in September.

Dollywood also announced new family rides coming this summer of 2017:

Drop Line will be a 200-foot tall free-fall that will tower over Timber Canyon after guests will be lifted almost 20 stories high above the pool and then their plummeting back down. It will provide an incredible view before its exhilarating finish.

Whistle Punk Chaser will be a junior coaster with exciting turns and twists for the younger guests while they have to wait for the time when they can join the adults on the park’s award-winning Thunderhead wooden coaster.
